Street food in Damascus

share
Damascenes just love a bite or drink on the go - be it a schawarma, a spicy Armenian sucuk sandwich, sticky sweets, or a cup of freshly pressed pomegranate juice in autumn.

Don't miss visitng one of the traditional furns or bakeries selling the top local favourites: manakish flatbreads topped with za'atar thyme and sesame, fatayer pockets or boat-shaped bread with cheese, muhammara spicy paprika spread, minced meat or spinach. There's Syrian pizza too, with a lot of cheese and olives. When ordering ask for it to be served taza, fresh from the over.
