Pinkas Synagogue

  Široká 3      (+ 420) 222 749 211     more than a year ago
In 1955-60, the Pinkas Synagogue was turned into a memorial to the Jewish victims of the Shoah from Bohemia and Moravia, one of the earliest memorials of its kind in Europe. The memorial was permanently closed following the 1968 Soviet invasion and not reopened until 1995. The synagogue's walls are chillingly covered with the names of 77,297 Jewish Holocaust victims from the area. There is also a permanent exhibition of children's drawings from Terezin concentration camp, drawn between 1942 and 1944.
