Hotel Freeland

If you're claustrophobic or buy clothing in the XL department you might want to give this hotel a pass, because the steep, narrow stairs are daunting and there's no lift. If, however, you do make it to the top you'll no doubt be impressed by the laid back atmosphere of Freeland, which feels more like a hostel than a two-star hotel. It's an easy walk from all of the nightlife at Leidseplein, but distant enough so you won't be disturbed by the racket. The 15 rooms differ quite a bit in size and degrees of luxury, but the best rooms are at the back of the hotel.
