The west coast of Texel hosts a number of beachside eateries where you can enjoy a light snack, a proper meal or an evening drink and in 2012, roughly halfway up the island, Paal 17 opened it doors. Two giant pavilions of wood and glass are located along the trails that lead you straight to the waters of the North Sea. Coming from the interior of the island, the one on your left is called Paal 17 Aan Zee and it offers a more modern take on the traditional beach pavilion. Try the broodje tessels lamsstoofvlees (two chunks of homemade bread accompanied by a hearty stew). Just opposite you'll find Paal 17 Zomers, which offers much of the same, and Paal 17 Lekkers, a takeaway place with no seating.
