Pink Point & Homomonument

  Westermarkt to 9      (+31) 20 428 10 70     more than a year ago
Located in an award-winning design kiosk on Westermarkt, Pink Point provides general information about LGBTI+ life in Amsterdam as well as the nearby Monument to Homosexuals or Homomonument, which was designed in 1987 by artist Karin Daan to inspire and support lesbians and gays in their struggle against discrimination. It is also a memorial to gay men and women who were oppressed and persecuted because of their lifestyles and beliefs. The pink triangle was the symbol homosexuals were forced to wear by the Nazis. Its staff provide all kinds of information about gay organisations and about gay life in general in the Dutch capital and they also sell some of the coolest gay souvenirs in the country. They can also point you in the direction of the hottest LGBTI+ clubs and happenings and give you lots of other insider advice.
