On clear days you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views when you climb to the top of this 45m-high lighthouse. The bright light that flashes twice every ten seconds can be seen as far as away as the city of Leeuwarden in Friesland. Built in 1864, the lighthouse was heavily damaged during World War II, but it survived and is now one of Texel's most prominent landmarks. Located on the most northerly tip of the island, it stands watch over one of the most picturesque locales in Texel. The view is well worth the effort, but bear in mind that the lighthouse has no elevator, so you'll have climb to the top on your own.
