Who'd have thought Budapest would have not one, but two Tiki bars? One is Rumpus on bustling Király utca, where they've gone to town on the décor and cocktail prices start at a couple of thousand HUF a throw. The other is the Blue Lagoon, presumably named after the saucy book and 1980 sexploitation back-to-nature flick. It's on a quiet side street in the Ninth district, and cocktails are just 890 HUF. That's right. Popular with the city's Indonesian community, it's a laid back kind of joint but one that keeps the punters happy with regular live music sessions and 'ladies nights'. Expect the usual Tiki God masks and carvings, grasscloth and so on. It's just nice to see a new place open up that isn't just trying to gouge as much margin as they can for a drink. Don't say: "There ain't enough room in this town for two Tiki bars, one of them has got to go". Do say: "Another of those very reasonably priced cocktails please".
