1500 Dog Gang are a small but dedicated group of volunteers at the Municipal shelter Gorni Bogrov - people of different ages, different hobbies and different life-styles, united by their love for animals. As volunteers they are convinced that they WILL change not only the lives of the shelter dogs themselves, but also the attitude of Bulgarian society towards the stray dog population of Sofia.
They organise regular walks for the shelter dogs every Sunday. Walking a dog who has been in a cage for a whole month is the most precious gift that you can give him. Cuddling, grooming, playing and running with the dogs not only makes them really happy, but the volunteers too. The aim is to ultimately change the attitude of Bulgarian society towards stray dogs and adoption and educate the public about the importance of neutering their pets. They encourage adoption (which we wholeheartedly support) and point out the serious downsides of unethical buying from animal breeders as well as the danger of breeding animals at home.
New volunteers always welcome - so if you too love animals and maybe can't actually afford to keep a pet at the moment, this could be a great experience.
