Sant’Elia Stadium dates back to the early 70s. It was partially done up for the 1990 World Cup, but the grand projects for its complete renovation were blocked over the years and the seating capacity has been reduced to 16,000 for safety reasons. Sant’Elia continues to host Cagliari's home matches, but visitors should not expect a Premier League style stadium.
