A great place to rest those aching feet after trekking Howth Head or striking a deal in the nearby fish market, the Cock Tavern is in idyllic surroundings. Once a favourite watering hole of Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott, the pub sits atop a small hill in the heart of Howth village mere yards from St Mary's Church and graveyard (built in 1042). Snuggle up to the open fire, spark up a conversation with one of the locals or pick up a Cock Tavern t-shirt from behind the bar. Recently refurbished and under new management, the Tavern prides itself on providing the cheapest pint in Dublin. A fine beer garden, games room and plenty of big screens for major sporting events makes it a welcoming spot and a far cry from the pomp of certain city bars. Definitely worth dropping in for a pint... but don't forget the last DART back to Connolly Station is at 23:55.
