The oldest theatre in the city, Csokonai Theatre has been providing the people of Debrecen with high quality culture since opening in 1865. The theatre is surrounded by a number of statues paying homage to the greats who have performed here, from Kornélia Prielle to Kálmán Rózsahegyi via László Márkus and more. The Romantic-style building gives way to a vibrant interior enhanced with rich decorations, and the schedule of shows is far and away the best in the area.
