Déryné Bisztró

  Krisztina tér 3.      (+36-1) 225 1407     more than a year ago

We're not sure how this establishment has eluded our reviewers, their needle sharp quills ever poised to elevate or decimate unsuspecting restaurateurs, and yet somehow, up until now, it has. Unforgivable really, when you consider Déryné Bisztró has been open, in one shape or form, for 101 years. No that's not a typo or an ink spot - 101 years. We might have come late to the party, but we're converts now. This ravishingly cosy looking eatery opens its doors for breakfast every day, and stays open til late, serving dependably well prepared Hungarian and Continental cuisine. Well in truth, our mouth-wateringly good T-bone steak came from Uruguay, South America, but our Pinot Noir was assuredly Hungarian. The waiters, dressed as waiters should be, in white shirts and black ties, mix a contemporary friendliness with a more old school formality, and it all works to a tee. From soup to nuts, or rather their home made bread to the last bracing espresso, Dérnyé didn't put a foot wrong on our inaugural visit, and we'll be back again to see if they can maintain their form. It's that good.
