The Great Synagogue

7 Strada Sinagogilor     more than a year ago

Known to be the oldest mosaic place of worship on Romanian soil, the Great Synagogue (Sinagoga Mare) is believed to have initially been of smaller size, because when it was built, it was not allowed to be larger than the Metropolitan Cathedral and was allowed to be built only from wood. Today, the big historical monument still serves the Jewish community established in the region.
