D’Albertis Castle and World Culture Museum (Castello D’Albertis e Museo delle Culture nel Mondo)

Captain Enrico D’Albertis, (1846-1932) a man of culture, adventure and foresight travelled the four corners of the earth, came back to Genoa, built a neo-Gothic castle and filled it with his treasures. High above the city with spectacular views and enviable gardens the castle is now witness to the far-off worlds he visited and open for all to share. The eccentric interiors, which show an obsession with all things exotic, are decorated with African and Oriental weapons. Photographs taken by the Captain himself can be seen along a collection of contemporary photos of North American Indians and a new permanent exhibition is dedicated to world music with instruments, videos and music from the five continents. Don’t miss the Columbus room, the Turkish drawing room and the sundial room.
