Among the finds on display at the museum, most of which go back to the Turris Libisonis Roman and early Middle Ages, there are some very interesting pieces. One of these is the magnificent sarcophagus of Aurelia Concordia (3rd century), with its refined Roman details, and objects discovered in the hold of a ship which sank in the waters of the Asinara towards the end of the 4th century. Then there’s the mask of the Satyr (1st century) and the cylindrical altar of Bubastis (35 AD), both found amongst the majestic ruins of the Thermal Spa, fulcrum of the archaeological area next to the Antiquarium. The thermal centre was built between the end of the 3rd century and the beginning of the 4th on a villa dating back to the 1st century, known as Orpheus because of its magnificent mosaics.
