One of the few remains of the old city walls, Portixedda tower stands proudly at the eastern edge of Oristano’s historic centre. It’s difficult to say precisely when it was built, as records are not clear, but findings from a recent restoration project, which found a square tower within the current round one, have caused experts to estimate that the original was built in the 13th century and its cylindrical replacement later during the Spanish occupation.
