Kėdainiai

Multicultural Centre

  Senosios Rinkos 12      (+370) 34 75 17 78     more than a year ago
Housed inside one of the town’s three surviving former synagogues, Kėdainiai’s Multicultural Centre hosts all manner of temporary exhibitions and events in the space that was once the men's prayer hall. Upstairs in the former women’s section is a small exhibition dedicated to Jewish life in the town including several religious items, a metal fireman’s helmet and an alarm clock made by the local Jewish firm D Ronder. The square outside was the traditional trading place of the local Jewish community. Its emptiness serves as a chilling reminder of what happened here in August 1941.
