Best way to describe the World Museum in Liverpool? Individual words don’t do it justice, but if forced at gunpoint we are going to go with ‘voluminous’. Plenty of ground is covered in what is the city’s oldest museum, a science and history hotpoint that was opened to the public way back in 1851, although at that point it was just the (considerable) personal collection of Edward Smith-Stanley, the 13th Early of Derby. This is all of the universe (not literally) under one roof, astronomy sidling up to archeology and getting to know each other in that unmistakable Scouse way. Entry is free, so you really have no excuse.
