Ferry

The ferry crossing between Den Helder and Texel takes 20 minutes. On busy days Teso makes more trips, but bear in mind that you can't reserve a spot ahead of time so it's first come, first served and you have to buy a return ticket. When the weather is good you can sit on the terraces outside, but inside you'll find a buffet and lavatories. Boats run from Den Helder to Texel every half hour between 06:30 and 21:30 from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays service starts an hour later. Boats from the island leave every hour on the hour between 06:00 and 21:00, but on Sundays the first boat leaves the harbour at 07:00. The distance between Den Helder and Texel is 4.2km and the average speed of the ferry is 20 km/hour.
