Just look for the neon Popeye sign to find this popular Red Light district pub. Inside you won’t see sea captains with eye patches or other old salts, but rather tourists and stag parties drinking heavily or watching sports on TV or both. If it weren’t for the crowds one might even admire the maritime interior of model sailing vessels, chandeliers made from ship’s wheels and nautical lamps. Most people, however, come here for the cheap drinks.

I found the Amsterdam IYP a very useful companion during my three-month stay in this lovely city. The organization by city districts made using the guide quite simple, and directions were clear. I made good use of the sightseeing summaries and also found the restaurant reviews most helpful in choosing dining options. When visiting establishments (Fjallraven, New King, etc.), I did mention that I found them in IYP, so I hope that helps a bit. I have used the IYP guides in a number of European cities and have always benefited from their insights and recommendations. IYP Amsterdam certainly was no exception.

Best pub and staff in amsterdam. Atmosphere second to none with the best music and location is optimal. Returning in may to enjoy the old sailor again so do yourself a favour and try this pub you wont be sorry

A great place to hang with locals and tourists the same. Love the tap handles with olive flashing her tits.
