If you're on a budget in Aruba, Perle d'Or can't be beat. This complex of 96 apartments has two types of rooms, singles and doubles. The deluxe studios have a bit more space and amenities than the standard accommodation, but basically this is a low-budget facility where all the rooms are not exuberantly large, or luxuriously decorated. The majority of the guests are Dutch students and owner Monique (and her partner Nico) are the perfect hosts or temporary parents for these young adventurers. Unfortunately, Perle d'Or is 3km away from the beaches and the main tourist areas, which can be a bit of a ride with public transport. A car is a better option, although a one-way cab ride will set you back US$10. Reserve well in advance as it fills up quickly.
