A bit of Spanish or, even better, an understanding of Papiamento, wouldn’t hurt when visiting this stark cafeteria inside the National Library. If this isn't an option put on your best smile and try to get the attention of the two lovely ladies who guard these premises with some impressive posturing. Although no visible menu is available, loads of nearby office workers descend on this place for cheap, filling meals around lunchtime. Five reading tables in the adjoining Sala di Korant (Reading Hall) are covered with heaps of magazines and Dutch newspapers, but you could also do as the islanders do and watch local soaps on the huge TV.
