Of the more than 100 or so Landhuizen (plantation houses) that are scattered all over Curacao, this is by far our favourite. Perched atop a hill overlooking the picturesque Santa Martha Bay, it has been lovingly restored to its former splendour when it was erected in 1750. Today, a young, energetic couple from the Netherlands run the place and have transformed it into one of the island's most charming boutique hotels. Expect spacious, stylishly furnished rooms decorated with local artwork and a constant breeze, owing to its elevated position, that keeps blood thirsty mosquitos far away.
