Curacao is home to its fair share of forts, but most are completely destroyed or lie in ruins. The stunning 18th-century Fort Nassau is, however, a thankful exception. This romantic locale, which includes its own restaurant, is perched on a cliff overlooking the harbour and offers breathtaking views of old town and its two famous landmark bridges. Naturally, the management limits its seating on the other side of the fortress where the horizon is marred by the less impressive pipes of the oil refinery. The attentive staff serve well-presented international dishes with a Caribbean twist and the extensive wine list is beyond reproach.
