'Kook van Jou' is a Dutch phrase that is hard to translate literally, but basically describes 'a place where food is loved'. The charismatic owner Moniek runs this small eatery during the day, but spends the rest of her time doing catering. Located in the heart of the charming and arty Scharloo district, which is rarely visited by tourists, the bistro is housed in a historic building dating from the late 19th century. Come here for an affordable lunch on the patio and enjoy freshly made sandwiches, pasta and salads. If you're a meat lover, go for the pouled porc (pulled pork) or an authentic Reuben sandwich, filled with pastrami, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and German sauerkraut. Highly recommended.
