If you prefer accommodation off the beaten track, then book a cottage at this tranquil, tropical oasis. Only a few kilometres east of Oranjestad, you’ll find this small bungalow park with only 10 cottages strategically built on a hillside. The buildings are surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds and its lovely fresh water swimming pool offers splendid views of the Caribbean Sea. The cottages are fully furnished and spotlessly clean with large bathrooms, a small porch and an outdoor kitchenette. Thankfully, an ever-present breeze negates the necessity of AC. The Lodge is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so a scooter (or car, if you stay in the more expensive cottages) is included in the price of a room. A simple, but filling breakfast is served every morning near the pool where you have a chance to meet the other guests, who are usually divers. Unfortunately, there's no need to ask for a wake-up call as irritating roosters often perform this task much earlier than you'd probably like.
