The Village Coffee & Music

Coffee bars are extremely popular in Utrecht and many of these places are frequented by freelance something-or-others tapping away on their laptops. To avoid these posers 'writing their novels', The Village doesn't offer wireless internet, but it does employ a live DJ. Another remarkable feature of this coffee purveyor is a surprising lack of seating, because most of the room is taken up by, wait for it, an empty floor. Add deafening music, which renders a regular conversation impossible and you'll understand why we headed for the door. A crossover between a disco and a coffee bar isn't quite our cup of tea... or coffee.
