Utrecht's perfectly central position within the Netherlands has a small drawback: driving to the sea takes a while. This is why locals spend their summers at the Krommerijn outdoor swimming pool. It's the only outdoor swimming pool in Utrecht, so you may have to shove your way to the diving board, but thankfully the lawn for sunbathing is large enough for the crowds.
