Being called the 'smartest region' in the world is a title that no one would refuse. Especially when its given to you several times (beginning in 2009) by a respectable institution like the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). Since 2002 the ICF international think tank has studied the economic and social development of communities in the 21st century. Only a few dozen cities or metropolitan areas in the world have received this prestigious award. Neighbouring Helmond and Veldhoven are also part of the 'smartest region in the world'.
