The Dutch have been a nation of world travellers for centuries and this seems to be the inspiration for this colourful restaurant and bar. This is the Groningen version of the well-known chain of Hard Rock Cafes, but instead of music related memorabilia on the walls, they're decorated with travel items like Eskimo snow boats and a dugout canoe. Mr. Mofongo's menu reads like an exciting travel guide from around the globe, although the stories are only available in Dutch. As a result you’ll find spareribs from the USA next to a jump & surf dish from Down Under or Japanese teriyaki noodles, our favourite. We still have no clue which country serves mayonnaise in empty orange shelves. Food for thought.
