If you're passionate about archaeology, geology and marine life, then head down to this interesting museum on Holland's coastal border with Germany. Museum Aquarium Delfzijl is located at the bottom of an embankment near the beach and the port. It's the perfect environment to see where stalactite caves, shells, dogfish and thousands of other sea creatures once called home. We especially liked the aaibak (petting tank), where a wide range of marine life can be met in the flesh so to speak. A part of the museum is also dedicated to the rich maritime history of Delfzijl and its surroundings. The northernmost megalithic tomb in the Netherlands is also on display.
