What do a Finnish sauna, Norwegian waffles, Swedish smorgasbord and 20 Norwegian wooden cabins have in common? All of these Scandinavian delights can be found on the far southern outskirts of Groningen next to the border of the picturesque Paterswolde Meer, a manmade lake that was the by product of 16th-century peat mining. Nowhere else in the region will you find such a tranquil and peaceful place to spend the night. On the other hand, there's also plenty to do here, especially if you're a water sports enthusiast.
