Although most people know Toscana as one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, locals from the northern end of the Netherlands know Toscana as a chain of ice cream parlours. In fact, Groningen has two of them in the heart of old town. Every day, in season, you can choose from 32 different options varying from oude wijven (old wives) to cookie dough. Besides ice cream, there are also 36 milkshakes to choose from and seven different crepes. Its two small benches seem to be perpetually occupied, so most people order takeaway.
