Surrounded by historic ruins and rusty cannons, the Old Gin House will make history buffs feel right at home. This 18th-century building was a cotton factory in its heyday, but now houses 20 comfortable rooms in a colonial setting dripping with old world charm. Choose from three types of rooms and suites, all of which are equipped with essential amenities including a good mattress, AC and a small fridge. If you can afford it, definitely book one of the suites with unobstructed ocean views as the apartments at the back have less ambience and privacy. The property itself has gorgeous grounds and a pleasant pool area. Breakfast and other meals are served across the road at one of Statia's better restaurants.
