Lot’s going on throughout the year in Abu Dhabi and too many to mention here, so here’s our pick of some fun and traditional festivals for tourists to enjoy.

Abu Dhabi Festival

The Abu Dhabi Festival has been running since 2004 and is organised by the Music and Arts Foundation. They aim to promote visual arts and literature through a month long programme of performances, events and workshops from artists from around the world.

Mother of Nation Festival

Outdoor festival celebrating the life and values of H.H Sheikh Fatima bint Mubarak through a busy ten days of musical shows, cultural activities, beach dining, fireworks and conservation activities. If you’re out and about the Corniche area around the middle of March, then you’re sure to see and hear some of the activities and celebrations that make up this energy-filled event.

Abu Dhabi International Dance Festival

This fabulous three-day festival takes place in April and artists and performers from around from around the globe show off their moves and get the crowd involved at various events, workshops and parties. Feel the energy in the air and get swept along.

National Day

National Day is the 2nd of December and is celebrated with a two-day event marking the formation of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. If you happen to be in Abu Dhabi at this time then you can enjoy many free activities, events, performances and live shows in various locations around the city.

Shopping Festival

Much like its neighbour Dubai, shopping is a favourite sport in Abu Dhabi, and if you’re visiting in around the end of December then you can thrash your credit cards and pick up some massively discounted items. This annual event is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism with the aim of attracting more tourists, and with discounts as high as 75% off we reckon it’s too good to miss!
