Its exhibits include more than 600,000 coins spanning a period from antiquity to the early modern era. It is housed in the mansion of Heinrich Schliemann, discoverer of the Mycenaean treasure, which was designed by the famous architect Ernst Chiller during the late 19th century. Its amenities include conservation laboratories, a well-equipped library, a hall that houses temporary exhibitions and a Museum shop.
