This 19th century converted church is a two-in-one venue with a comprehensive programme of live comedy, music and clubbing. Upstairs the Victorian music hall theme provides a sumptuous backdrop for live music performances. The basement bar serves great value food and, at night, becomes a hive of activity for beer connoisseurs. During term time (Sept-June), Belfast's longest running comedy club attracts top acts attempting to win over one of the toughest audiences on the circuit.

The empire gets some really good bands, but lets far too many people in. You can not get near the bar on a busy night (no matter how persistant you are). Be prepared to stand. Music dosen't kick off to 10.30 most nights

I have been to the empire on numerous occasions and found the door staff to be the most plesant in belfast . i was also at the oiasis gig and i can honestly say that they handled it well and saved alot of people getting hurt . so let them do the job there good at and in looking after the public on the premises. the people that complain must be ones thats getting on like assholes to say they are thugs .... ps there are worse bars in belfast with alot worse doormen and women so get a life....any body that ive heard saying anything about the door staff as they are friendly and good crack boys keep doing the job yous are doing and just want to say hi to m.k.d.s.m.t.g.and we westie and the rest off the staff many thanks

For the record i am a doorman from the empire! We are always friendly, professional and curteous to our customers. Its a real shame for us that all cant always behave themseleves and in that case we need to react and keep our staff, customers and ourselves safe. Being a doorman aint easy and dealing with irrational people is only the tip of the iceberg so please for all who read this, spur a thought for the shite we put up with and keep smiling.

These "hoods" as you call them are the only ones that stop the Oasis tribute fans killing everyone. They need to be thanked rather than criticised. You are forgetting that they are there for a purpose and need to be allowed to do their jobs. It seems to me that you are amongst the gangs of 'hoods' that get so drunk that they need to be removed by the men that try to make the Empire a safe and enjoyable venue.

What is going on with the door staff? Are they all on work experiance from the University of Thugery? Very aggressive, very unprofessional. Good Venue but they need to sort out professional door staff and let the local hoods get a jobs elsewhere.
