This mountain lodge 5km north of Završnica is the perfect base for hikers setting off into the mountains and is a great place to try the local cuisine. Accommodation is also available, so don’t fret about enjoying a post hike beer or trying the local honey liqueur.

A 30-minute walk from Valvasorjev Dom, the Ajdna archaeological park is one of Slovenia’s best archaeological sites and provides a window into late-Antiquity and Middle Ages. Excavations have uncovered the remnants of an old walled Christian settlement, including 25 buildings and an early church from the 5th or 6th century. The site sheds light on the plight of early Romanised inhabitants who sheltered in the region's rugged landscape from marauding Germanic tribes.
