Now almost entirely abandoned, Višegrad’s old railway station is a fascinating reminder of how history and time wait for no man, or in this case, station. It was opened in 1906 as Višegrad established itself as a major regional city, but the decline in the railways under communism saw it converted into a bus station, before the collapse of Yugoslavia saw it resigned to the history books. Now it is abandoned, home to only memories and the homeless, but you can still get inside and wander around. Not that we’re recommending that or anything, but do watch your step…
