St Bartholomew's Church

You can’t really miss it. St Bartholomew’s Church is the premier house of worship in Brighton and one of the tallest churches in England — some believe it to be the tallest. Whether or not it comes first on that list is somewhat moot, as it is all sorts of tall regardless, although it would be a stretch to call it ‘beautiful’. The building garnered a Marmite reaction upon completion (one actually called it a ‘monster excrescence’, another referred to it as a ‘brick parallelogram’) but is an undeniable part of Brighton’s architecture today. We happen to think it is rather smashing.
