It is easy to imagine the hip crowd of Mumbai heading for spots like Salaam Bombay. It has a trendy interior with sleek lines and touches like glass marbles embedded in the floor. There’s no traditional Indian music, but rather thumping techno-y stuff played quietly. The service is very polite and attentive and they are amenable to special requests. What makes a meal here truly memorable is not the music videos aired in the restrooms but the divine dishes from the kitchen. Naturally there is a good selection of vegetarian food (650 -1 100 HUF) and the grills and curries are also excellent value for money (1 500 - 2 300 HUF). Perhaps because it has just opened (summer 2005), the prices are low. Maybe they will rise once the entire city is addicted to the food.
