Szimpla is part of the city's thriving Bohemian/grunge subculture. Girls in Gypsy skirts and mascara-aided rings under their eyes do actually hook up here with haggard lads in pullovers and leather for intense, bitter chats about philosophy. Well, that might be laying it on a bit thick. One of the first so-called ruined bars of Budapest, Szimpla has moved well into the mainstream, but is no less a fun place for a beer for all that.
