Camps Bay is one of Cape Town’s most affluent suburbs, so you can expect plenty of beautiful and important people to be lounging around on the area’s gorgeous beach or on the terrace at one of the many bars that overlook this iconic vista. The entire neighbourhood leads to the sands, with the slopes of the spectacular Twelve Apostles spilling straight into the ocean in a picture-perfect scene. Don’t be surprised to see happily married folks stopping for some wedding snaps on the sands, although do keep any divorce statistic quips to yourself.

Camps Bay is the ideal climax to a gorgeous piece of the city and a stunning gateway to the Atlantic. For visitors looking to explore more of the city's coastline as opposed to the historic downtown streets (the V&A Waterfront is about 20 minutes drive away) this is a popular base, although keep in mind that as with all Cape Town beaches the water is icy cold.

Climbing up the steep hills above the beach are an array of grand villas and mansions and the area is known to have some of the priciest houses in South Africa with million-dollar views of the coastline.
