The hiking adventure of Samaria Gorge

Samariá National Park     more than a year ago
Cretan mountains provide hikers and climbers with dozens of possible routes. The most well-known goes through the magnificent Samaria Gorge. Located in National Park by the same name, the 18 kilometres route is one the longest in Europe. You need to reach the village of Omalós, 42 kilometers south of Chania. It is not an easy track and might be challenging for the inexperienced trekkers, especially in the region called Síderoportes (Iron Gates), where the gorge is only four metres wide. Wearing stout footwear and carry plenty of water is definitive to embark on that adventure. When you finally reach the sea, you will stop at the village of Agía Rouméli famous for its black sand beach.
