Visit the church that Fryderyk Chopin attended in his youth by popping into this Baroque beauty. Pride of place goes to the original organ which our man himself played during a part-time stint as a school organist. A plaque outside confirms the connection: ‘In honour of Fryderyk Chopin, who played on the organ in this church as a pupil of the Warsaw High School in the years 1825-1826.'

I have just asked one of our researchers to clarify how the organ survived. A nun at the church tells us that the surrounding area was apparently razed during the war, but that the church miraculously survived with the organ within.It does sound rather miraculous but I suppose it is fair to say that St Paul's in London survived while everything around it was flattened. That aside I for one am not going to question a nun.

How can this be the 'original organ which [Chopin] himself played..." when other sources claim that the church was razed to the ground by the Germans in WWII and subsequently rebuilt from 1946? Before the war, was the organ removed and placed in safe storage, a known procedure elsewhere in Europe.
