Reiterdenkmal

Heumarkt 25     more than a year ago
Gustav Blaeser's 1876 statue built to honour King Friedrich Wilhelm III enraged the court circles of the time as a mounted statue was deemed inappropriate and simply not kingly enough. Still, unveiled it was and there it stayed until it was blown to pieces during WWII. The current beast is a copy, created by Raimund Kittl using fragments of the original.
