To Xani

Among the numerous restaurants dedicated to the traditional cuisine in Chania one that has the name of the city looks too plain to try. Well, this restaurant run by a family for the past three decades offers quite a broad spectrum of Cretan tastes and flavours. To Mikio Taverna

“The Little Tavern” – as the name of the place is translated from Greek – is set near the Chania Archaeological Museum. Since the restaurant is small in size, you need a reservation. But the time you spend there worth the try. Visitors can relish on essential Cretan dishes like dakos, fried cheese, dolmakias (stuffed vine leaves). To Mikio Tavern cook is of seasonal products and is usually closed during the winter.

Theodosi Restaurant

You will find one of the most creative places to taste the local cuisine a little bit away from downtown. Theodosi Restaurant is actually situated near the German Bird (Germaniko Pouli) monument west of Chania. The restaurant reinvents traditional salads. After the starters chicken souvlaki and pork ribs on grill are among the top picks next to the octopus and calamari. An excellent selection of wines is there to make the most of the dinner.
