Elevated between the massive Roman-era columns of the Temple of Jupiter, the Kahwaji family’s antique shop opened in 1964 and is an Oriental marvel: a succession of rooms laden with ornate wooden chests, printed and embroidered textiles, metal and silverware, and carpets. After you find the narrow staircase leading up to his shop, the owner, Samer, will be happy to sit with you on his balcony overlooking the Umayyad Mosque to share a tea and talk about his passion for Syrian crafts. Don't miss this experience.
