A great and relatively new restaurant in a residential area north of Bab Touma, the 'Sultan of the East' serves dishes from all corners of Syria in an interior that for once is not wholly traditional – you sit beneath steel and exposed ducts, with mashrabiya
screens hinting at the Arabic theme.
