Oliver St John Gogarty’s

Oliver St John Gogarty’s (the “St John” part is often pronounced “Sin-gin”) is very, very popular with tourists. Indeed, it seems to draw more visitors than locals. It’s a sprawling Irish pub, modelled on the type you’d find in more rural areas. There tends to be trad music playing there on most nights and it always draws the crowd, which usually translates to a nice atmosphere (or ‘craic’!). Opinion is divided on this place, but we think if you get there early enough (it tends to fill up on weekends) and when the right band is on, you’ll have a great time. And the complex also houses a budget hostel and self-catering apartments... so there's no excuse for losing your way home.

Beware! Oliver Singe-Your-WalletThis venue, while hosting top calibre traditional music, is well known for charging the most outrageous drinks prices in Dublin, with prices in the latter part of the evening incrementing on the hour. This has been proven/borne out in several newspaper surveys.
